LiFePo4 Battery For Solar System
Energy storage batteries are indispensable in off-grid systems. The solar panels charge the energy storage batteries through the controller, and the iron-lithium battery is inverted by the off-grid inverter for users to use. The energy storage batteries are used in the photovoltaic off-grid system. The more commonly used are lithium iron phosphate batteries, lead-acid batteries and so on.
Lead-acid batteries hinder the modernization of substations due to their inability to withstand high temperature, overcharge, overdischarge, and heavy maintenance. Compared with other storage batteries, the outstanding advantage of lithium iron phosphate battery pack is its excellent overcharge resistance performance. Due to its low working voltage, it determines its good overcharge resistance performance. Lithium iron phosphate batteries have outstanding characteristics such as long life, relatively high safety, and extensive material sources. Therefore, in the future, lithium iron phosphate batteries are expected to become an important selection equipment for DC power supplies in power systems.
FAQ
Q: I am trying to charge my battery through Solar Panel. If the battery pack already has the PCB/PCM protection, do I still need the solar charger controller?
A: Yes, you do need the solar charger controller since it will regulate the voltage from solar panel for your battery pack.
Q: If I want to solar charge LiFePO4/Lithium Ion battery, which already has PCB, would a normal SLA controller work fine?
A: For LiFePO4 / Lithium Ion battery, we always recommend to use LiFePO4/Lithium Ion solar controller. Especially if you are using the battery as UPS (back up power supply). The Lead Acid solar controller will constantly provide pulse current to the battery , in the long run, it might damage the PCB. So the PCB won‘t be able to protect the battery when it should be.
The LiFePO4 / Lithium Ion solar controller won‘t provide constant current when the battery is fully charged. So it is much safer and reliable.
